Life As Of Now!

Don't mind the attire.... Saturday, staying at home and reading = perfect attire for the event!

Okay.... so maybe everything hasn't gone according to plan like I thought it would. I didn't plan on catching whatever crazy sick bug for the past week, leaving me to sleep earlier than my normal curfew of before the sunrise the next day. That slowed down my school work and personal work production, just as I could take a breath, back in the weeds I went. Heck, look how long it has been since I've posted anything here?

Spring break where are you?

This is what I asked for right? To be a college kid, move out of the state I lived in since I was a kid and be on my own. Understanding that there is no possible way I can predict how life may be, because something will always change what I was creating in my thought bubble right above my head.

I have slowly slept on the thought of attending graduate school after culinary school. My plan seems so simple... to be a real life superhero like figure! By day, Food Journalist, writing, taking photos and of course eating food until my stomach says yummm and frighten the shoes off of the people sitting one table away from me. By night, work in a restaurant, sling around saute skillets, perfect portion size steaks, chicken, protein, vegetables, whatever food I need to cook and get out to the guests. Of course I just can't do this in any ol' state... No I have to do it in the grandest, biggest, scariest place of them all... New York City!

First major accomplishment for the day. watching My Life As Liz Season 1 and the first episode of Season 2! Need I say more?

I have made the concrete decision 20 minutes ago to seriously apply for graduate school at.... wait for it....

CUNY for Journalism!

Wanna know more? I should also tell you all my decision that I want to create my own website for my photography and writing material. Do you all think that's a great idea? My professional network has grown a lot within the past 2 months. I am meeting a lot of new people. I love to do them both and share with the world. Feedback?

Well I could sit here and blog all day about how much I really want to blog all day every day now, but I will cut this one at the end of this period.

Out Of The Weeds!

"GOODBYE STRESSVILLE, HELLO NORMAL CITY" 30/365 of my Project 365 on Flickr.

Finally, after being in the weeds for about a week I see the light and now I can breath. Stressed, stressed, worried... that's not me; not the normal me at least. My days are usually composed with a lengthy to-do list, followed by a meticulous schedule to follow with minimal room to relax. I'm use to being busy, but if you can relate to what I am saying, you know exactly how I feel.

Because of the latter strenuous back-up flow of work; adding back-up weight + current weight = too much weight - time to let my mind relax = borderline mental friendly warfare. But I'm here, I'm back, and ready to hit the ground running at full speed!

This weekend was amazing! I attended the CLA Summit in Denver, CO including various business/community leaders within the Denver/Colorado area as well as fellow student leaders. It was satisfying to be in the same room(s) as other peers who have the same passion of leading and bettering the community around us in some way. Life is all about change, and there is an abundance of it heading my way. For the better? You better believe it!

To end this day off (picture me in anticipation of something, and then jumping out of my seat) I finally have some time to read Chef Thomas Keller's "The French Laundry Cookbook!" And... (drum roll please) one of my new favorite bands Within-Temptation, debuted their new video Faster online today (visit here) and also visit their website (visit here).

Time for me to appreciate this momentous day for what it is, and finish watching Wizard's of Waverly Place. (Yes I watch the Disney channel still and I am proud to say it.)

Sometimes Falling Is Just A Test

Over the past month, I feel like a large hand stuck out its index finger and pushed me down. Refusing to stay fall, I continually feel the weight getting heavier and heavier. Now there is a little difference; the weight seems to hit the triple digits, yet because of previously tearing down muscle, new and stronger muscle was constructed mentally and physically. I have a diary (yes a DIARY) that I write in every day (and if I miss a day which has happened, I just cover it in the next days entry).

If you want to look at some photos from my Project365 you can visit my website here. Maybe I should compose a post for all of the days up to now, and then blog everyday from then on.

What do you all think?

Time for me to bare you a good night world. I have an extremely long day tomorrow with just two more tasks to complete on my to-do list right now.

Goodnight world!

Back to The Routine!

How am I holding up the first week  back from school? I am actually holding my own fairly well for the amount of work on my plate. I haven't been able to read a book as of yet, however, I plan on beginning some reading tomorrow night (why tomorrow, because my school doesn't have class on Fridays). My Project 365 is going pretty well (visit my first 5 days here) and my first photo being blogged with other Project 365 community members (visit here).

View the full story behind this photo on the first link provided above.

While completing some homework tonight, I listen to Pandora radio and heard this band called "Within Temptation." If you have not listened to them, finish reading this post and please listen to "What Have You Done Now" and "The Howling" you will not regret it.

I have a feeling that if I can grip of my work and free time, I will become a completely happy person! Well time to finish watching Top Chef, I may take a nap and continue some work to get ahead.

For The Purpose of Understanding

I remember purchasing this book in my school bookstore Freshman year, yet I never usedi t. back in October (2010), I thought to use it as a book for my quotes. After only writing two quotes (I have written more, just not in the book), I ripped out that page. January 1st, 2011 it all clicked to me like an epiphany. I found my favorite pen, and (check this unplanned magic) at 11:11pm [MST] on 1/1/2011, I began writing the first entry into my diary.

Maybe it was fate, that I was let go from a horrible restaurant (most likely going to close seeing that they couldn't even pay their employees and food purveyors on time.) I didn't go back home for the Winter break like most of my peers. I stayed in Denver, seeking conformity in my mind and being away from the world. Finding myself was my goal, and I believe I have achieved it.

Well, I must get back to enjoying my coffee, listening to the Avenged Sevenfold radio station on Pandora, and complete some homework before school starts tomorrow. If this is what 2011 is all about, then who am I to get in the way? Let me find a cloud to float on and do things for the purpose of understanding!

Finally Snow In Denver, CO

This whole Winter Break there has not been a single spec of snow.... until now!

Right now, I am sitting at home listening to Avenged Sevenfold - Afterlife (its been on repeat pretty much all day.) As 2010 comes to a close, I look and realize the trials and situations I've had to incur; every time I rose to the top. Now in another situation, more worse than any other I'm wishing for the same outcome. I've appreciated the help from my family, which makes me miss them even more. I wanted to spend my first holidays (Thanksgiving and Christmas) in Denver, however, not the full extent of how I have though.

The best thing that happened this break is being able to stage at TAG restaurant in LoDo. I'm going in for a 2nd stage later on in January and if it goes well.... (to be continued.)

Having this unpredicted time off, I was able to look at myself and say "What do I want to change about myself to become a better man for 2011?"

So I comprised of my 2011 New Year's Resolutions in the form of a contract:
My New Year's Revolution 2011 Contract to Myself

1. I will produce more material for my blogs (http://theblogjournalofkenonthompson.blogspot.com/) (http://kenonthompsonseverythingfood.blogspot.com/) on a continuous (at least two [2] times a week) basis!

2. I will go to the gym minimum two (2) times a week.

3. I will let work be work, and personal life be personal life.

4. I will travel out of state (out of the country.) Any ideas cause my 21st is in 2011? :p

5. I will purchase 30 Rock and The Office every season on DVD!
  • In coherence of purchasing 30 Rock, in the style of Jack, I must complete a minimum fifty (50) days of Reaganing! (if you don't know what this means, watch the episode "Reaganing" somewhere fast!)
6. I will not attend a party if my homework is not done!

7. I will automatically put 10% of every check in my savings account and not touch it. (Exception overrides if financial obligations permit in the case of an emergency.)

8. I will stay organized at all times!

9. I will complete my tasks ahead of due dates!

10. I will play video games and watch movies more!

11. I will not make any decisions hasty decisions (i.e: deactivating my Facebook, Twitter, and or any other form of communication.) *I was horrible at this example this year. I recently did it this week lol!!!! This is definitely a sign of saying that I need to buy some durable Skull Candy headphones ASAP!

12. Anything that is not in the previous eleven (11) Resolutions and I want to do it, I have full power to do as I please!

If in breach of any resolution for the duration of 12/28/2010 12:00am (MST)-12/31/2010 11:59:59pm (whatever time zone I'm in)....... well, no penalties shall incur because that's crazy! :)

Have a Happy New Year's everyone! Be safe, have fun and I will see you in 2011!

(Note: After thinking more and more about reading, and after looking at a friend's blog I want to start a weekly series of the book(s) I read and keep a list of them for this year. I did plan on doing that for this year, however, working, school, working, and the occasional time of relaxing, time just did not permit me to do so. However, this year I will be way more organized and able keep up with the latter!)
